No Plans For The Weekend? You Have Now.

We might be stuck indoors but that doesn't mean we can't still have fun, crack open a bottle and let's get this weekend started!

Another weekend of Netflix and self-isolate, oh yay! Not. Last Friday I was so bored I made myself a roast, or at least I tried to but with half the items missing it was more of an ode to a roast. Half way through this dinner a friend sent me a link to an online event he thought I might enjoy and I had so much fun that I ended up abandoning the last part of cooking dinner just so I could dance and drink wine, who needs veg anyway? After it finished I was like now what, where do I even look for things to do?? I looked but I couldn't find anything and so I ended up turning off all my disco lights, getting under a blanket and putting netflix back on. It genuinely saddened me and I vowed to plan better for the following weekend. Was it as fun as being your friends in IRL, no? but did I enjoy and more importantly did I need it -yes. I've put together a list of mood boosting things happening this weekend so that you don't have to be as bored as I was.

Friday Night

a programme of events featuring London’s top talent and best nightlife streamed into your homes through Instagram Live.
Friday nights in have never felt so good

The Evening Standards Big ES Friday Night In, aims to "give you the Friday night, end-of-the-week anticipation you deserve". The schedule kicks off on Friday 27 March with Amelia Dimoldenberg of Chicken Shop Date (If you're a fan of grime and you haven't seen this on Youtube yet go check it out now) hosting a London-themed pub quiz at 8pm. At 8.45pm it's time to set the beer and wine aside and let the award-winning, Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton, teach us two cocktail recipes (one with booze, one without). For their 9pm finale, 'fashion’s favourite record spinner' DJ Fat Tony (with a DJ name like that you already know this is going to be good) – will be slaying the rest of the evening with a setlist of his favourite feel-good tunes.

Join them on Instagram Live by searching for @eveningstandardmagazine, and tag them with the hashtag #TheBigESFridayNightIn and they'll repost your dance moves, quiz results and cocktail creations on their stories.

I'm not someone who loves house music but I was working from home and had nothing better to do, so I decided to stream part of Defected’s first-ever Virtual Festival. It was live-streamed across Twitter, YouTube and Facebook reaching over 10m people, it was a global success and honestly it was fucking epic. I felt so uplifted. Now they're back and I'm excited to dance around my living room and feel that joy and connection once again.

Stream it on Facebook and Youtube and catch over 6 hours of music with Folamour, Karizma, Melé, Riva Starr and more.

Starts: 1PM

Free

Saturday Night

bingo, live challenges and 'dog racing'... straight to your living room!🏡
Live from the Bungalow, let's stream some Bingo!

Whilst they can't put on their usual Bongo's Bingo shows, they will be streaming bingo, live challenges and 'dog racing'... straight to our living room! Friends in the UK have attended these parties and raved about it, I had serious FOMO watching their stories. Described as 'a crazy mix of traditional bingo, dance-offs, rave intervals, audience participation and countless magical moments' I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of show they have planned for us. 'Everyone from 18 to 92 plays and parties together' which sounds like everyone in the family (over 18) is in for a treat.

It's free to play, all you need is: A pen, paper, UK registered phone and you're all set!

Starts: 8PM (Also Thursdays at 8PM)

Free

One of my favourite sites on Facebook. This site was set up by Lucy Pardoe and Ollie Hughes, two performers living in the Costa Del Sol, as a way for people to be entertained and have their spirits lifted during the Covid19 lockdown. This is the group that saved me from boredom last Friday. They were expecting a maximum of a couple of thousand people from across the coast to join in, but it has spread (like Covid19) and now has over 500,000 members with artists performing from all over the world. This weekend over 72 talented artists will be performing live short sets, so you can have your very own front room festival. The feed is just as inspiring with funny memes and messages of positivity.

#Rockthelockdown on facebook everyday!

Starts: Check their page for performance times.

Free but a lot of the acts are out of work performers or fundraising for other artists so donations are welcome.

Sunday Night

A special one-hour event to help support relief for all of the first responders and key workers risking their health to help others. Good if you're awake in the early hours and looking for something to do, or alternatively as Monday morning pick me up. Hosted by Sir Elton John, FOX presents The iHeartRadio Living Room Concert for America will feature performances from artists including Alicia Keys, Backstreet Boys, Billie Eilish, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Mariah Carey and Tim McGraw, from their own living rooms.

FOX will offer the event across all of its digital platforms and fans can also listen via the iHeartRadio app.

Starts: 8PM (Also Thursdays at 8PM)

Free

I hope this helps and if not there's still Youtube, Instagram, Netflix, Facetime & good old Masturbation - PornHub are even offering free subscriptions to certain countries to help do their part to flatten the curve. Enjoy
